How Music Can Change You

Okay, so not a beauty related post, but I felt the need to write this post. I've been thinking about it for a few days now, and I can't let it go any longer!

Basically, this is just a blog post about my favourite artist, Leddra Chapman. I found her quite by accident in May this year, whilst watching clips of This Morning on YouTube, when I came across her performance on there from 2010, singing a beautiful song called "Story". Straight away her lyrics grabbed my attention, I'd been having a bit of a rough time with things in my life, and the song seemed to speak my feeling so perfectly. From watching that video I searched for more of her songs on YouTube and before long I had watched her music videos, tour videos and anything that I could find. Now, this may all seem quite stalker-ish behaviour, but there was just something about every song that I'd heard of hers that spoke to me, something that I'd never really experienced with music. I've always listened to music, but have never been one of those people who can't go a day without listening to any. I then found out that Leddra and Ed Sheeran had performed together, this was just before Ed had really broken through completely, a couple months before his album + came out. The chemistry between them in this video is incredible!

Needless to say I downloaded Leddra's album "Telling Tales" as soon as I could, and its been playing in my car since June, and it hasn't been replaced, except for when I added her new EP "A Trick or Two" to it in November.

I went to see Leddra live at The Bull and Gate in Kentish Town on the 22nd of November and it was one of the best nights of my life. She's an amazing performer, and her honesty in the lyrics are portrayed beautifully live, you can tell she actually means every word that she's singing. A rarity in todays X Factor charts, where everyone is singing other people's songs. Its good to know that there are still talented people out there who can play instruments, write their own songs and sing.

The day after the gig on the 22nd of November, Leddra graduated from the London College of Music, which just goes to prove that she has a talent, and one that will last for a very long time.

She deserves to be more widely known, I think anyone that listens to her, even if they don't like the folk/pop sound that she produces, they can appreciate the quality of her music.

Leddra's music means so much to me, as silly as it sounds, but I have now turned into someone who can't go a day without listening to music.

BM Beauty @ The Clothes Show Live

From the 2nd - 7th of December the Clothes Show Live was held at the Birmingham NEC, and I had the amazing opportunity of working with BM Beauty, Kimberly Wyatt and Laura McComiskie's new make up brand. I travelled up on Sunday the 4th and worked at the show on Monday and Tuesday (5th and 6th of December)

I had an amazing time, working with a few of the girls from The Academy of Makeup, Glasgow to help promote and sell these great products.

BM Beauty is an all natural, animal cruelty free mineral makeup company. They have a range of products, from eyeshadows, mascaras and lip-glosses, right through to foundation, concealers and finishing powders. The foundations contain zinc oxide which is a natural anti inflammatory, great for problem skin, which was a point that Laura and Kimberly wanted to focus on as they have both in the past suffered from problem skin, a problem that many people share! The foundations come in a good range of colours, although more colours will be added to range as time goes on. They have a great texture, very soft, with buildable coverage without feeling heavy or cakey. They also contain a slight shimmer so you will never look like you've just stuck your face in a powder puff! It gives you a lovely, dewy finish!

All of the products are cruelty free, and the company has been given the stamp of approval by BUAV and PETA. Along with the cruelty free products, all of their brushes are made with synthetic hairs, that are made to replicate animal hair so you achieve the same finish with the brushes.

Another amazing factor with this brand is that all of the posters used at the Clothes Show were complete air brush free. It was incredible to see all the little bits that would usually be completely taken away, like the fly away bits of hair, and you could actually see her skin, and all the pores. It gives so much more credibility to the brand itself, as all the products used in the pictures were BM Beauty products so you could actually get a decent representation of the products and how they work on the skin!

I will be posting a separate blog with swatches, and talking more about how to use mineral makeup, because it isn't all about powder, powder, powder!!

Thanks for reading my lovelies! Hope to see you back soon

Muji Palettes

Today I received 4 Muji palettes in the post! Even after having deliveries of makeup arriving over the past two weeks, these palettes were the most exciting purchase I've made!
So it's 10am in the morning, (I'm still sleeping - shh) and the doorbell rings, I jump out of bed and run down the stairs to make sure they postman doesn't run away without giving me chance to open the doors, luckily I shout out "One second" and he waits. And there they are, a box of lovely little palettes! Instead of getting breakfast I sat down straight away and started pushing lipsticks and concealer into them! Messy but very fun!

Here are some pictures of what I've done!

You can purchase these palettes at £1.50 each from Muji

Love Makeup?

I made an order at love-makeup yesterday morning and received my delivery this morning with my normal post! I am so happy with their service, absolutely outstanding and all the products are great. One down side, one yaby eyeshadow was missing, but, I rang them up, let them know and they're sending it out today! Absolutely brilliant. I also received two sample Michael Todd lipsticks in "First Kiss" and "Angel" which was a complete surprise!
I'll definitely be buying from them again!
